Neuters
Our neuters are very dear to us and we love them to bits. They all live in the house (wouldn’t dream of having them anywhere else) and share in the day to day running of things, for example, I put all the toys away and they get them all out again, we pay the bills, they hide them. We give them love and get a lot more back in return. We never strike or threaten our cats and work hard to earn their trust and affection, which is very rewarding. Once you lose a cat’s trust you may never earn it back. Striking an animal is counterproductive to making a safe and loving pet home.
Bengals do like to take part in things, especially dishing out of food, cleaning litter trays, vacuuming and accompanying their owners in the lavatory/shower. They watch you cook, they watch you work and tell you when it’s time for play and affection. They can also sense your moods, and adapt to your daily routine.
Bramblewood Yaguara
Sire: Jumanji Shere Khan of Bramblewood
Dam: Bushfire Carousel
Yaggie is 2 years old, and is our most affectionate Bengal. She is brown spotted and very pretty and was bred by Christine and Peter at Bramblewood and Silversafari Bengals. She is a big cat who loves her food she is first by the food bowl and last to leave. She still plays like a kitten and her size and weight are no deterrent for jumping off the highest shelf of the floor-to-ceiling cat scratching post. As much as Yaggie loves food and play, she also loves her sleep, and can be relied upon to find the most comfy spot in the living room to nap. She is a dextrous cat that enjoys playing with screwed up pieces of paper, and her small furry mice that end up behind the sofa the same day we dig them out. She constantly purrs and demands hourly belly rubs when she kneads her paws to her hearts content. She has a melodious meow, which she uses sparingly to make her demands I have never heard her hiss.
Yaggie does not like show at all and was upset the once we took her, so she now keeps the cat(s) who aren’t going to show company at home when we go. She is very good at walking on a lead and enjoys being out in the garden. She is a soft-hearted cat that immediately befriends any newcomers to the household. She is the first to clean new cats/kittens we have homed and curls up with them to sleep.
TGCA Wotmore Tinker Tagora
Sire: Korshki Wotmore Dancing Brave
Dam: Adcinsh Scarlett Orchid
Tinky is 2 months younger than Yaggie, and is the most headstrong cat we have known. Jean Bond of Wotmore Cattery in Tamworth bred her. She is a tri-coloured brown marble, with the most wonderful texture to her coat. She is calmly confident and very intelligent. If there is any mischief going on, we can be sure Tinky is the instigator. On many occasions she has caused trouble and calmly walked away, leaving another cat to take the blame. She’s the first to investigate and try anything. Tinky will not be told what to do and will stare at you judgementally if you ever attempt it. She is very vocal and wakes me up every morning when she feels she needs attention, unfortunately this could be any time in the morning from midnight to 7am, and boy is she persistent!
Whenever we have introduced a new cat Tinky is always the last one to stop hissing at them, just so they know she’s in charge! Tinky has been to GCCF and TICA shows she tolerates both but prefers the GCCF format. She also is never mean to judges but
keeps her wrath for us, the ones responsible for interfering with her life and bringing her to the shows. Although I can see she does enjoy the attention. Tinky follows me around the house when I am cleaning or decorating and chats to me constantly. Tinky has been known to fetch the mail from the front door! She enjoys chasing Yaggie around the house, and is prone to, what we refer to as, “a mad one” every now and then, where she rushes around the house screeching-no harm or damage intended-it’s just fun!
SGCA Gradena Golden Nugget
Sire: Gogees Silver Nugget of Gradena
Dam: Korshki Treasure
Nugget was a stud boy for Marguerite at Korshki Bengals. He is a beautiful brown rosetted boy of two and a half years. He sired a few litters and then was neutered to go to his forever pet home. We happened to be in Scotland for something else, and I really wanted to see the Korshki cattery and meet Marguerite as well as her beautiful cats, so we drove to Kirkcudbright from Knockhill. We met Nugget who was a gentle soppy boy and I knew when he climbed onto my shoulder he would be coming home with us.
Nugget settled in very quickly considering he was dealing with hormonal changes from his neutering. I’ll never forget the sight of this strapping stud boy being chased around the house by a little Tinky when he first arrived. After his hormones and coat settled we took him to a TICA show, as Nugget has silver in his line we cannot show him with GCCF currently. The rest is history, which can be found on our show page.
Nugget is a softy and a gentleman, he is very affectionate and has been known to purr on the judge’s bench. He barely utters a word so when he does speak we all listen. He has a very sweet meow, not at all in keeping with his muscular build and size. Nugget hates confrontation and would rather run away to his favourite hiding places in the house. We often joke that he thinks he’s a British Shorthair, although Nugget is also prone to the odd “mad one” and is an ardent fan of dragonfly cat toys.
Nugget is an easy cat to please and home. This boy is very chilled and takes everything in his stride. He adapts to new cats within minutes.
